The Recent Approval of Atheist Bus Ads

  1. I think you missed the point. It is not about religious freedom or expressing views rather it appears to be a denial of any responsibility towards God. If there is no God then there is no sin, and if there is no sin one is free.
The current spirit of the age, while disguised as one of freedom of expression, is actually a reflection of original sin namely that I can decide for myself between good and evil and the consequences that stem from that.

Thanks for your comment, Karine. I do not disagree with your assessment. I wrote this article over 14 years ago. As a non-believer in sin at the time, I was not considering the issue from a hamartiological standpoint. I would now say that without the existence of a personal and loving God, there is no moral responsibility. There will also be no good or evil, or objective moral values and duties, just bottomless indifference. However, I do hint at that in the article when I mention the meaninglessness of life in the absence of God and the afterlife.
