The CBC – A Source of Trustworthy News or an Engine for Propaganda?
What I’m about to explore here is not exclusive to the CBC but applicable to all of the mainstream media outlets. Much of the journalism in the Western world has reached unprecedented levels of corruption. The idea that reporters and journalists are to follow a “script” is nothing new and has been a part of the industry for many years.
Money for Nothing
More often than not, news organizations are more interested in backing the agenda of those funding them. For instance, the Government of Canada, i.e., the Liberal Party, has invested over the past few years $675 million in funding to “revitalize” the CBC. Moreover, the CBC has received over $1.2 billion annually from the federal government since the 2018 fiscal year.
Their motto is that “Canada wouldn’t be the same without the CBC.” This statement is certainly true; Canada would certainly be better off without the CBC since it does not represent the diversity of thought of Canadians nor does it offer critical, honest, and accurate reporting. If anything, it misleads Canadians into believing misinformation. This is a great disservice to the average Canadian, who works a 9–5 job and does not have the time or interest to do their own research. They will typically tune in to get their five minutes of news before bed. Luckily, more and more Canadians are waking up to the reality that the CBC is not what it presents itself as being. Consequently, Canadians have begun looking elsewhere for their news, even though other popular organisations spew similar propaganda. Given all of this, we should demand to know why the Liberals are shamelessly wasting our tax money on this.
Nothing but Double-Standards
We must also ask: why are the CBC and many other Canadian mainstream outlets more interested in the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh than in the shortcomings of Canadian politics? Kavanaugh’s case was covered ad nauseam in 2018. In my mind, the main objective is to attack Donald Trump at all costs. It’s no secret that the CBC and many Canadian media outlets have a rampant obsession with criticizing Trump. They would rather focus on Trump than present their own man in a critical and honest light. It is an appalling double standard that needs to be brought to the forefront of Canadian reporting. Very few political commentators, with the exception of the likes of Rex Murphy, a seasoned and respected political commentator, have the integrity to illuminate the obvious: why is the media not reporting on Joe Biden’s assault allegations in comparison to the extensive coverage of Judge Kavanaugh’s case? We know the answer. But, if you haven’t already seen this, take a look at creepy Uncle Joe Biden in action:
Norman Traversy has been taking Justin Trudeau to court over his corruption since late last year. The first hearing, he went all the way to Ottawa to find out the judge was sick. The next one in October of last year he was locked out of the Ottawa court while the proceedings went on without him. Traversy marched with a swarm of patriotic Canadians to the U.S. Embassy to hand in a 192 page report on all of the Trudeau government’s corruption. An honest and objective media would be covering stories like this. They would also be asking questions like the one asked by the Conservative Shadow Finance Minister, Pierre Poilievre, in his grilling of Justin Trudeau: “What happens in baseball when you have three strikes?”
I hope Canadian members of parliament can unify to give Trudeau a much-deserved vote of no-confidence, but I won’t hold my breath.
Enough Is Enough
Despite this disturbing trend of uncritical reporting, some reporters have had sufficient moral awareness and integrity to resign and expose the media that is weaponizing the left and misleading hard-working and trustworthy citizens of the world. Opinion editor and writer Bari Weis, from the New York Times, resigned for publishing a “controversial” view on how rioters should be dealt with. Something that was anathema to our “woke” individuals (a more accurate depiction would be “unsophisticated dormants”). Weis explains her experience with “woke” individuals and unsophisticated dormants:
Still other New York Times employees publicly smear me as a liar and a bigot on Twitter with no fear that harassing me will be met with appropriate action. They never are…There are terms for all of this: unlawful discrimination, hostile work environment, and constructive discharge. I’m no legal expert. But I know that this is wrong.
In response to this treatment, she wrote a scathing letter exposing The New York Times. In it, she states, “Instead, a new consensus has emerged in the press, but perhaps especially at this paper: that truth isn’t a process of collective discovery, but an orthodoxy already known to an enlightened few whose job is to inform everyone else.”
In similar fashion, even more recently, former MSNBC reporter Ariana Pekary resigned from the channel and wrote an indictment against them, rightfully calling it fake news. Here’s a short excerpt:
As it is, this cancer stokes national division, even in the middle of a civil rights crisis. The model blocks diversity of thought and content because the networks have incentive to amplify fringe voices and events, at the expense of others… all because it pumps up the ratings.
This cancer risks human lives, even in the middle of a pandemic. The primary focus quickly became what Donald Trump was doing (poorly) to address the crisis, rather than the science itself. As new details have become available about antibodies, a vaccine, or how COVID actually spreads, producers still want to focus on the politics. Important facts or studies get buried.
This cancer risks our democracy, even in the middle of a presidential election. Any discussion about the election usually focuses on Donald Trump, not Joe Biden, a repeat offense from 2016 (Trump smothers out all other coverage). Also important is to ensure citizens can vote by mail this year, but I’ve watched that topic get ignored or “killed” numerous times.
Context and factual data are often considered too cumbersome for the audience.
Censorship Galore
It’s no secret that dissenting voices are being censored. This is not a new development, but something that has increased throughout the COVID-19 situation.
Facebook continually censors popular people, posts, and videos that run contrary to the mainstream narrative, especially in recent months with respect to COVID-19. For example, after the post is removed and if you engaged with it, you will receive a link to the WHO myth-busting page. There are countless examples of censorship occurring on the majority of media platforms that I will not explore here. It may be the subject of another blog entry, but I have been writing about the abolition of free speech for a number of years now. I wrote this article a few years ago, titled “Canada’s Free Speech Wars.” However, the censorship now is more in your face and prominent than ever.

CBC, Mainstream News, and COVID-19
So given all these developments, what is the CBC trying to convey about COVID-19 and how it is affecting our lives? Do we have to read between the lines? I believe we do. I think they are indirectly and unwittingly revealing a lot. For instance, the vaccine is about to become mandatory, which is a very dangerous decision since there has been an insufficient amount of time to efficaciously and ethically test it. Ottawa has ordered millions of doses already.
It’s only a matter of time before we will not be able to send our children to school without said vaccination, nor will we be able to fully function in society. We have already seen this implemented through physical distance and the wearing of masks.
Interestingly, our Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, has stated that even despite being inoculated, we may have to physically distance ourselves and wear masks for an additional 2-3 years. Come again? The truth is that we are susceptible to being affected by many other things besides COVID-19. There are far greater risks to our health and lives than COVID-19, such as cancer (79,536), heart disease (53,134), cerebrovascular diseases (13,480), and accidents (13,290), in comparison to the current death toll for COVID-19 (8,966). This is something that is predominantly affecting those who have weakened immune systems and comorbidities. The truth is that we have no clue about the number of infected or the number of actual deaths associated with COVID-19 since the media and even science and medicine are being politicized. Take, for instance, this shocking fact that was reported on the Public Health Ontario website in a document titled, “COVID-19 Case Fatality, Case Identification, and Attack Rates in Ontario”:
Reported deaths were inflated to assess the impact of potential under-detection of COVID-19 deaths. An inflation factor of 50% was chosen since, on average, several European countries reported under-detections of 50% in an analysis conducted by the New York Times.
We have already seen how trustworthy the NYT is. This is a total embarrassment and shame for our provincial government. This begs the question: why wasn’t this reported in any mainstream media outlet? This is scandalous.
In summary, the measures that are being taken are extreme: 1) Mandatory vaccines 2) Scientists and medical doctors would agree that the vaccine will not be safe or efficacious in such a short time period, and 3) even if people get inoculated, we must still wear masks and physically distance ourselves for another 2-3 years. Nonetheless, the argument that this is done out of compassion for the elderly and those with weakened immune systems is absurd. The elderly are systematically abused, both physically and financially. The government as a whole does not intervene a whole lot to improve the lives of the elderly.
Moreover, generational businesses have been destroyed, while those controlling corporations like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk get richer in sickening ways and through the misery of the world. This is a sign of the death of the republic and the advancement of the corporation. We are living in treacherous times. Here is a video that has been banned several times on Facebook, YouTube, and other media platforms. I think it provides a provocative summary of the situation we find ourselves in. Goodbye to Reason and Morality
There will most likely be a second lockdown in the fall, which will hit us worse. Given all this information and much more that was not explored here, the COVID-19 situation is an affront to reason. Surely, not all people are this gullible. It is my hope that people in our culture can evolve from being “woke” to actually being awake and aware. It is time to wake up from our slumber and confront this totalitarianism and total abuse of power that is eroding our freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and civil liberties in general. We will not be silenced. Everyone who realizes that we are not being told the full picture and that we are being led down the primrose path should vocalize their discontent. Silence will be the death of all of us. What will you tell your children and their children? We should take heed of the words of the theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who valiantly opposed the Nazi Party’s macabre practices and plans.
Trump’s Uphill Battle
Directly related to all the propaganda spewed by the CBC and all of the mainstream media, there is the most hated figure, the target of all of their venom: President Donald J. Trump. He is, according to them, public enemy number one. President Trump, in a recent discourse, stated the following alarming message in his fight against big and powerful pharmaceutical companies:

Trump, a few months ago, sent a very strong message that he will continue to “drain the swamp” in reference to the “elites,” which include the bankers, Hollywood producers and actors, the mainstream media, the billionaires controlling the media, and all of those who are enemies to the people. This, I believe, is the true reason for their hatred towards him. He is the only leader willing and powerful enough to confront this great evil. Here is his message:
And if you honestly believe the propaganda that CBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc., is touting, then you should listen to an informed and intelligent black man’s view on who and what Trump is fighting against:
These two videos have been heavily censored on many platforms. It’s an inconvenient viewpoint for the standard narrative.
So, despite all of this, I think there are very good things about to come, but more on that later.
